Our Story
The founder of Sparks Learning Academy started the first AIME course in 2015. USACO training started in 2018. Now we have over 30 courses on USACO and math contest training.

WHO WE ARE
The founder of Sparks Learning Academy, Mr. James Yang, has been interested in math and science since he was little. He earned first prize in national math and physics competition in high school and graduated from Peking University with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics.
Mr. Yang immigrated to the United States in 1992, where he earned Master’s degrees in Physics and Computer Science. He has been working in the IT industry since 1996, while also pursuing his passion for teaching.
WHAT WE DO
Mr. Yang has been teaching for the American Mathematics Competitions since 2015. He developed the curriculum for his AIME classes and AMC classes. Many of his students have qualified for AMO/JMO, with some later becoming MOP qualifiers and AMO/JMO winners.
Additionally, Mr. Yang has been teaching for USACO contests since 2018. His students have made great progress and were promoted to the next division. At least 7 of his students have qualified for the USACO training camp to compete for to International Olympiad in Informatics.
